Day 5 was the longest our cyclists had to travel since the beginning of the trip, 120 km from Golden to Revelstoke. It was also probably the worst heat since the start as well, with temperatures going into the thirties. Travelling through Roger’s pass, the team had to ride through tunnels carved through the mountains; many of which did not have proper lighting if any lighting and no shoulder to speak of. Our men braved the tunnels and exited safe and sound and though the uphill was tough, they rode downhill most of the day. The team were interviewed by the Revelstoke press upon arrival and then all went to hide in the blissful air-conditioning of their hotel rooms.
